- OllieOllie Broadway.
Prior to being acquired by Lionel, Ollie was a member of This Avant Garde Theatre Company Belongs to David Essex, and This Conceptual Art Collective Belongs to the Brotherhood of Man. Previously he has written, directed and performed with comedy groups such as London Theatresports, Naked Impro, Sprout, and The Sound of Ham, and is currently a member of Third Person Theatre Company and Mother's Fat Accident. He hopes one day to share a doughnut with a monkey.
- RichardRichard Hutchinson.
Richard’s comedy career began at the age of three when he occasionally played with Julian Barratt of The Mighty Boosh, whose gran lived over the road from Richard’s. Sadly this did not develop into a full collaboration - the two lost touch shortly afterwards and Julian’s career floundered. Their grans have remained good friends, however. Since then Richard has been a child, teenager, actor, writer and director of comedy shows and plays, and occasional stand up comedian; as well as squeezing in a day job as one of Britain’s leading primary school teachers. This is his third Edinburgh Fringe show.
- DecDec Munro.
Dec's very glad to be involved. He was the Membership Secretary of the Footlights Club at University and was described, in a nice bit of a review, as having "real brilliance" (Chortle). He was so encouraged by this he got a proper job for three years. His hobbies include writing in the third person singular. He hopes you enjoy the show.
- MichaelMichael Marsdon.
Michael is a London-based writer and editor whose published work ranges from a cultural guide to modern Britain to an account of his foray, as an atheist, into the colourful fringes of British evangelical Christianity. Since 2006, however, he has focused increasingly on comedy. After university he lived and worked abroad for a long period, including six years in Brazil. As a result he revels in a cosmopolitan and worldly self-image, while denying the true extent to which he identifies with Mark from Peep Show.
- JulianJulian England.
Lionel Richie first saw Julian in the hit Edinburgh Festival show The Leisure Virus and was immediately impressed by his rugged good looks and extraordinary virtuosity as a human beat box. Subsequent appearances in the sketch shows Spasm and The Invisible Bob Show convinced Lionel that Julian was ready to help bring his message of ‘Richie-love’ to a troubled world. When Julian isn’t serving Lionel he writes and performs for The OXYshow comedy group whose latest production can be downloaded on wirelesstheatrecompany.co.uk. Julian is also internationally famous in Finchley as the co-creator of Nobbin the pantomime horse.
- LauraLaura Claxton.
Laura Claxton is 20. She is new to comedy. This is noticeable by the gleam of hope that still glistens in her eye. Once, she cried blood whilst sitting beside Doctor Karl Kennedy off neighbours. It turned out, in reality, he was not medically trained.
- SalSal Thomas.
Sal shot to fame on Central News in 1987 after she heard her next door neighbour being murdered, but mistakenly thought he had dropped something on his foot. Her next brush came on reaching the semi-finals of Ch 4's So You Think You're Funny competition, but the pressure of being a girl, and also moderately amusing, was too great. After several years in hiding, she joins the Lionels armed only with eight euphemisms for female genitalia. Her ambition is to cycle around the CERN particle accelerator with a butterfly net, trying to catch a Higgs boson. Sal was recently shortlisted out of 1300 writers for the BBC’s Comedy College scheme and has had work included in BBC7’s Tilt.
- AlanAlan Morgan.
Alan was born at the age of four just to confuse people. He has written many pieces for amateur dramatics over the years, such as Bob’s Magic Allotment and All Bagged Up At Colostomy Towers, and has dabbled in proper radio on occasions, getting an extremely small number of pieces on Radio 2’s News Huddlines and BBC7’s Tilt. He is the one Lionel you won’t see on stage. Instead, you may catch a glimpse of him lurking in the shadows twiddling with a sound effect or bent double over a laptop. He dreams of writing and producing stunningly original and amusing radio sitcoms but generally spends his days drifting along the River Cam in a punt, eating crumpets and thinking about hedgehogs.
